FAQs

  • WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A LIL' DRAGON & COLOR BELT?
    • Lil' Dragons are students ranging from 4 years old to 8 years old.
    • The belt your student wears is the biggest indicator what program your child is in.  If the belt is WHITE with a SOLID COLOR STRIPE down the center, your child is a Lil' Dragon.  If the belt is completely solid, they are in the junior color belt program.
  • WHAT EQUIPMENT DOES MY CHILD NEED IN EACH CLASS?
    • Students should come to class each day wearing their entire WCWMA uniform, belt, and safety hand gear for pad drills.
    • There are designated sparring days each month where students are required to wear all of their required safety equipment.
  • HOW DO WE MONITOR OUR CHILD'S PROGRESSION / DEVELOPMENT?
    • White & Black Stripes are placed on each student's belt throughout the month(s) leading up to belt testing.
    • White Stripes symbolize a student understands the curriculum being taught but needs help from the instructor(s) do perform each technique correctly.
    • Black Stripes symbolize a student can perform each required technique confidently without the help of an instructor.  Although the technique might not be perfect, it reaches the expectation of the instructor(s) for their belt rank.
    • Red Stripes symbolize a student has been reviewed on all their required curriculum by the Head Instructor and is eligible to test for the upcoming Belt Test.  With the Red Stripe, they will also receive their Testing Application that is due prior to the scheduled Testing Date.
    • Private Conferences can also be set up (outside of normal class times) between parents & instructors if either side feels a student isn't progressing on schedule.
