Rules, Regulations, and Requirements for Students

ERNIE REYES WEST COAST WORLD MARTIAL ARTS ASSOCIATION is where dedication meets excellence in martial arts training. Our students are committed to mastering martial arts skills, building character, and achieving personal goals.

  • Demonstrate respect at all times.
  • Arrive for class 10–15 minutes before it starts.
  • Place shoes inside or on top of shoe racks.
  • Check all equipment before leaving to avoid taking others' belongings.
  • Wait quietly until your class begins.
  • Parents and siblings must stay off the training floor during classes.
  • Carry your current WCWMA membership card for attendance tracking.
  • Wear uniforms in every class, belt exam, and WCWMA events unless authorized.
  • Ensure all WCWMA patches are correctly placed and sewn onto uniforms.
  • Only t-shirts or rash guards are allowed under uniforms; no collared shirts, sweatshirts, or jackets.
  • Remove jewelry, watches, etc., or tape them up for safety before class.
  • Maintain trimmed fingernails and toenails.
  • Practice at home for optimal progress.
  • No food (including gum) on the training floor; water is permitted.
  • Parents can cheer and encourage, but refrain from coaching during class.
  • Help maintain cleanliness throughout the school.
  • Wait inside the school until picked up by parents or guardians.
  • Parents: Avoid disrupting classes; schedule private conferences for discussions.
  • Foster a positive, respectful, and disciplined attitude toward parents, teachers, and classmates.
  • Martial arts skills are only for physical fitness, positive mental attitude, and self-defense.

Red/Black Belts

  • Classes Required: 150 (+ 10 Weeks of Association Black Belt Training Held Every Saturday Morning During a Student’s Testing Cycle.)
  • Months Required: 12
  • Stripes Required: 7

Black Belts

  • 1st – 2nd Degree – 24 Months
  • 2nd – 3rd Degree – 36 Months
  • 3rd – 4th Degree – 48 Months
  • 4th – 5th Degree – 48 Months
  • 5th – 6th Degree – 48 Months
  • All students must present their WEST COAST MARTIAL ARTS ASSOCIATION Yearly Membership Card for accurate attendance tracking before each class.
  • Consistent weekly attendance is crucial for progressing through our curriculum and classes.
  • Written notice is required from students or parents for extended absences due to illness, injury, or vacation.
  • Curriculum DVDs are available for purchase to support home practice for various ranks.
  • Private lessons are not typically offered unless a student is returning from a prolonged absence.
  • Students failing to meet attendance or striping requirements will postpone their testing dates until all criteria are fulfilled.

Vacation Policy

Vacation forms are available for students facing prolonged absences due to illness, injury, or travel. Vacation forms are now accepted for up to 3 weeks per year, which will be added to the end of the current active agreement with our school. Please note that any missed time during a prolonged absence will extend the scheduled testing target date upon return, ensuring all attendance and stripe requirements are fulfilled before applying for testing. It's important to note that all training equipment sold through our school complies with safety standards set by the ERNIE REYES WEST COAST WORLD MARTIAL ARTS ASSOCIATION. Any gear acquired from external vendors must be approved by our instructors before being utilized in classes or our events.
